Once Upon A Time We Found A Cleveland Lock Tech
by Donald Wesley on May.24, 2010, under Home
This is the story of how one family fell in love with a car and, then with a car key. It is a tale of money, loss, necessity, frustration and relief. This is the story of how we lost our car key and had to dole out way too much money to our local neighborhood ignition switch and lock expert.
My family took a road trip across country and, for this we bought a new car. We had not bought a new car before and were very excited at the prospect. We save up a little cash and we started visiting dealers and doing research. This car had to be large enough for all our stuff and fit us comfortable during our cross-country trip. It also had to be safe for our one-year-old daughter. We settled upon the new Chrysler Pacifica.
We loved the car but, more than that, we really loved the key with all its wonderful features. It could start the car remotely, set the alarm, lift and drop the rear gate and even open the doors. This was a key that did it all and we loved using it over and over.
All the keys functions helped us quite a bit on our trip. Our hands were often full and starting the care remotely or lifting the rear gate with the press of the button was a great convenience. Then, I did it. We got to the west coast and we were only there a short while before I lost my key!
We went to Chrysler and found that the reason the key was so great was because it cost a fortune. It was $100 to replace! Well, this was ridiculous. We decided to go with one key and just switch off.
So, we went on for years like that, trading the key and not loving it so much anymore. We even stated to resent it a bit. Then one day and another daughter later, we lost the other key or, as my wife will tell you, I lost the other key. We looked for days knowing what they key cost. We even looked outside of Chrysler and found local Cleveland lock techs that could make the key. It was even more expensive and not a factory original.
We looked for days for that key determined not to spend the money on a new one but to no avail. We hired the Cleveland lock tech to save us from having to tow the car to Chrysler to get the key made. He was great and gave us two keys even though we paid for only one. The dealer would not have been so nice. Unfortunately, the lock tech keys did not have buttons to open anything remotely. Also, the set off the alarm and we had to start the car to disable it.
So, we don’t love the car so much anymore and we certainly don’t love the key too much anymore. But, as it turns out, after having the new keys made, our daughter decided to unwrap a gift she made for us and hid under the counter. It was our key! Don’t worry, we still love her.

Tapping Into The Most Popular Characters Used In Halloween Costumes
by Adriana Noton on May.22, 2010, under Home
Each October rolls around and the buzz in the school yard starts coming home strong. There always seems to be an amazing amount of competition to have the most popular characters used in Halloween costumes. While many parents and adults feel that being as low budget as possible on this costume is important, for the kids it is so much more.
So very many children only wear their costume once that it becomes difficult to justify spending any significant amount of money on it. It would be far easier to do if you could find an excuse for them to be used repeatedly. So often younger children will actually get considerably more use from them since they are still apt to play dress up.
This holiday is a really big deal for most children. The cost makes no difference to them. Actually, children can at times become very competitive with each other for the best attire on that particular day of the year. Lasting impressions are formed in their minds about how people react to them in costume. They tend to remember Halloween year to year very well.
Many costumes that children request are inspired or based on popular movies and television shows. When looking into the licensed character merchandise you will likely notice the cost. They tend to be on the more expensive side. If you find yourself out searching for these very items, there are some ways to lessen the burden on your bank account. Look for them on clearance right after the holiday ends, then pick them up for the following year.
Consignment stores and thrift shops are great for saving money on things like this. Should you settle on this route you will need to plan well ahead. It is best to start shopping at least six, if not eight weeks, ahead of time. To wait any longer is to risk not being able to find anything.
In the event that you are a creative sort of person, you can always try your hand at creating the costume yourself. Check your local arts and crafts, or fabric store, and you are certain to find the perfect materials for the job.
If you are talented at sewing then you will find patterns to make them on your own. Be careful about how you go about this, though. At times fabric can be expensive, so it may not be a route to take solely for saving money. It can, however, be great for making sure that it fits your child just right.
Using ordinary clothing to whip up Halloween costumes is not unheard of, and it does prove to be the most cost-effective way. This way it will get used plenty throughout the year. By adding a wig and a little bit of make-up you can have quite a costume ready. By involving your child in the planning you could have a very enthusiastic participant.
Oya Costumes provides a massive selection of costumes to suit your seasonal needs. We sell everything from Halloween costumes Canada to general, everyday costumes – there’s nothing we don’t have!
Looking At The Biggest Boats Ever
by Adriana Noton on May.22, 2010, under Family
You might believe that the biggest boats ever built are those that provide us with super vacations on the high seas. Cruise ships have been publicly competing for the top slot, but they do not take home the medal for largest vessels. In their class, they have the highest rank, but if you’re comparing all ships they actually fall somewhere in the middle of the pack. The supertankers are the reigning champion of large vessel building. As a commercial vessel, supertankers have historically been the modern marvels of the seas.
A great number of the world’s largest supertankers are no longer in service. The record holder measured 1504 feet, which is 458.5 meters. Knock Nevis, the name of the supertanker, is one of the tankers that has been taken out of service and scrapped. Many in the shipbuilding industry have turned toward smaller tankers because they are more economically responsible. It takes less fuel to carry them long distances despite the fact that they can’t transport as much cargo.
In the passenger ship class, one of the biggest boats ever to be designed is nearly ready for her first splash into the water. Royal Caribbean has built a new impressive model that is 1181 feet, which is 360 meters long. She is jam packed with activities, venues, entertainment, and all the trimmings of a big city.
Recreationally, privately owning a mega yacht (which is a recreational vessel of 250 feet or more in length) presents interesting challenges. Rarely do designers and builders take on mega yacht projects involving sailboats. The hull design is a lot trickier for a larger vessel, and therefore the mega yachts are generally powered by engines alone. The largest sailboat to date is the 289 foot fully functional and technologically enhanced yacht known as the Maltese Falcon.
As the greatest boats are built they are no longer competing for just size. Today, innovative technology has brought about the blend of pure size with technology. How much can be done with the push of a button? How safe is it that most tasks can be handled at the push of a button?
To help temper the race, there are plenty within the building industry who have voiced some concerns about the safety of building even bigger boats when they have become so dependent upon the technology that operates them. If you can simply push a button for almost every task, then how would we expect the human crew to manage a situation that could lead to catastrophe?
The ship building industry does not fully agree. While the size of the vessels could mean that there is always greater risk of accident or tragedy should vital equipment fail, there are safety features built into the technology to help prevent any disasters. Some call these vessels technological wonders.
The biggest cruises ever built will one day not be quite so large as more designers and builders continue the trend. However, with an eye for environmental responsibility and crew training, each ship comes to the water a little safer than many of those that have floated before her. With the advanced computer aided models and the time to learn from experience, these vessels are rated highly for their efficient means of transportation as well as their built in safety features.

Find Your Perfect Hotel In Jersey
by Tris Jackson on May.21, 2010, under Holidays
There’s a simple rule of thumb you need to bear in mind when looking for a hotel in Jersey – what is it you actually require from the place you’re going to be staying in? This may seem extremely obvious, but my experience is that people often forget this basic principle.
So how do we go about answering this question? What we need to do is develop a list of features that can be found in the hotels in Jersey that you discover in your online search. Once we have this list, we’ll be much better able to select a hotel that best matches what we’re ideally looking for.
The basis for all hotel stays is obviously the reason why you’re going to be there in the first place. This will probably be either for a holiday or city break, or for work. There are, of course, other possibilities (such as visiting relatives, attending a party etc.), but we find these are the 2 most common reasons for wanting to stay in a hotel.
Once we have in mind why it is we’re going, we then need to decide where in Jersey will be the best place for us to be based. This will take into account factors such as whether you want to be near the town centre, near to any sightseeing opportunities, or near to where you’ll be working.
Next you’ll want to be thinking about what sort of facilities you require from the hotel. It’s a long time since you’d have to check whether a hotel had en suite bathrooms or not, as most nowadays do, but you could potentially save some expense if this isn’t important to you. You might also be interested in there being a bar and restaurant on the premises.
Back in the day, it was unusual for holiday accommodation to include a gym or swimming pool on site, but this is much more common now. And if you feel the need to go on the internet while you’re away, you should check if the hotel has wifi internet access, which is increasingly the norm.
Having mentioned money, this is a very obvious issue that you’ll want to address. No point looking for five star luxury if you simply can’t afford to pay the amount it would cost per night. Jersey certainly has its fair share of hotels to choose from in all price brackets, so you should easily find something suitable with just a few minute’s investigation.
So, knowing whereabouts you want to be, and the kind of things you want from your hotel, you’ll want to check out all the hotels in Jersey that match your criteria. You can compare them all against the list of features you’ve decided upon, and home in on the best match.
And finally, you’ll want to be sure the hotel you want to stay in is actually available on the dates you want to be there. Make sure you check for each of the nights you want to stay to ensure your chosen hotel is suitable for the whole time frame you need to book for.
